Breath of the Wild NX Bundle?

We have October 2016 and Nintendo is still silent about their next console, the "NX", which is supposed to come out in March 2017 - that's less than six months, unless of course they delay the thing again. Now, I would suspect another Nintendo Direct at the end of this month, where they will finally reveal their next system to the world. It's also the time where the final DLC for Hyrule Warriors: Legends comes out, so another Nintendo Direct following the one at the end of August seems likely around that date.

In any case, with the newest rumors there's mention of four launch titles including Zelda and a new Mario game, as well as a bundle. And I'm somewhat afraid that this bundle is going to be for Zelda (and not for Mario), where they have some sort of "Sheikah Slate Edition" of the NX system...

The issue here again would be the whole attitude towards the Wii U. They did announce Breath of the Wild for the Wii U in early 2013 - that's when Aonuma talked about breaking the conventions and that's also when he showed the first picture of The Wind Waker HD. This remaster acted as a filler at the time to keep Zelda fans entertained, until the new game arrives, and a Limited Edition Bundle invited Zelda fans to buy a Wii U already at the time, including myself.

Three years later we got another remaster, while Breath of the Wild still is in development. But my plan was to play the game, as it was supposed to be played: on the Wii U first. That's what I as a Zelda fan bought the system for originally. But if Nintendo releases a special NX bundle in March (or whenever it will come out), then Zelda fans will be inclined to buy that instead. And naturally Nintendo wouldn't want you to rest on your Wii U right now, they are really eager to bury this system... So, I wouldn't be surprised, if a Zelda bundle really will be happening, just so that the Zelda fans with Wii Us out there won't stick to that for now.

If it happens, it also would be the first time that I adopt a new Nintendo system at launch (not counting the New Nintendo 3DS XL). And if it doesn't happen, I would probably wait until the next Zelda game (and a potential bundle), before buying the NX. If the last years has taught us anything, then it's that Nintendo really likes their Limited Edition systems...

I'm still wondering why there'll even be a Wii U version. It's just pointless.

And yeah, I'm not even going to bother getting the NX until it has a decent catalogue of games.

Because they promised one three years ago. Because this game was made for Wii U in the first place. Because despite being a commercial failure, the Wii U still sold 13 Million copies, where a good part of that wants Zelda. If it wasn't coming for Wii U anymore, there'd be an outcry, first here on Hyrule Blog.

Unless there really is some Zelda Limited Edition I'm also going to wait on the NX and then it's a good thing that I still get to play Breath of the Wild on my Wii U first day.

I'm getting both versions of Breath of the Wild, Wii U version first. I can't afford a new console at present, although I am getting it later on.

I still regret not getting the Cube version of Twilight Princess. Only now with the HD remaster in my possession that I'm actually able to enjoy the mirrored Hyrule as originally designed.

Yeah, with Twilight Princess I also played it on the GameCube first and this was generally a good choice. I picked up the Wii version together with the console two and a half year later...

At least with Breath of the Wild playing the Wii U version first and the NX version later should feel like an upgrade.
