A Painting Coming to Life

Remember how Aonuma teased that there will be a big surprise shocking you in the beginning of A Link Between Worlds? (Sauce.) I think I know what this surprise might be... I put it in a spoiler box, just in case (JavaScript must be activated to read it).

What if Link's painting form is actually his true self? We all thought that Link somehow gained the ability to become a painting. But what if it was the opposite way around? If he's actually a painting that was brought to life with a spell and now can take human form?

The story could be similar to the Wind Waker, where legends tell of a Hero from the past, who saved Hyrule from demise (the events of ALttP). You could have mural paintings at some place picturing the legendary Hero, similar to the scrolls in the intro of the Wind Waker. And when Zelda is in desperation, she visits these murals and prays to the goddesses that the legendary hero would come to save Hyrule. The goddesses answer by bringing the painting to life!

So, this time Link is actually not just some guy, who suddenly finds his destiny as the hero. He's an image of the hero from A Link to the Past created by the goddesses to save Hyrule.
