Link's Awakening Remake: Chamber Dungeon Free Mode Confirmed

In their preview video for The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening on Nintendo Switch, GameXplain has revealed a nice detail about the Chamber Dungeon: it will offer some sort of "free mode", where you can build anything you like on a eight by eight grid.

This will certainly be nice to have. If the challenges don't already go for a boss rush themselves, this will be the place to build one. Or anything you like, really.

Still, you won't be able to share them online. You can only share your dungeons by putting them on an amiibo... However, seeing how the Chamber Dungeons are entirely made out of familiar dungeon rooms this might not be the biggest loss, because lots of it would end up being very similar.

This is more something, where you build challenges for yourself instead for others. And this may be a good thing, because this way you will focus on things that you'd find fun to play, instead of a dungeon with the pure purpose of torturing others. Let's face it, a big part of the dungeons would just be bosses combined with Shadow Link or Wallmasters again and again...

Anyway, what this mode really needs is a randomizer. Part of the fun of the Chamber Dungeon is that it re-arranges the dungeons in new ways, but by doing this yourself you will already know what's coming. If you were playing dungeons that were entirely randomized, then things could get a lot more exciting, because you would never know what you'd get. Maybe even deactivate the map for that mode to make things truly challenging and surprising.
